Fighting corruption - 'Anna' way or your way?
I was in a discussion with an Anna follower. He is taking part actively in the "Anna's fight against corruption". When I told him that I disagree Anna's way of dictating terms to an elected government as it can be a dangerous practice. My friend was so angry that he had to pay a bribe for getting his work done.
When I asked him "Why did you pay the bribe when you hate corruption?"
His answer was "I wanted to get my work done quickly"
When a salaried person, earning an average salary, can pay bribe of few thousands, to get his work done quickly, does he have the right to blame a business man paying in millions to somebody at higher level? I am sure that many of us would still be paying bribes, along with shouting for Anna, to get our work done.
I am totally against corruption. But unless we are going to be the change, nothing can happen irrespective of Lokpal or JanLokpal.
Anna has created an environment to vent out the anger of thousands of educated middle class, who were fed up with the amount of corruption our Country is exposed to. My only concern is that whether anger properly channelized? Is this a proper solution? Is this a proper way to achieve? I am not sure how many of them thinks Lokpal is a solution to get rid of the problems of our state.
In fact, I am really curious to know how many of the supporters, will not pay a bribe to get things work for them. How may would now stand and raise voice against corruption?
After all, does any one of us get a say if any Lokpal is introduced? If we have to pay a bribe from our hard-earned money and decide to fast for that, Will anybody notice?
I confess, I have not gone through the drafts of Government's or Anna's lokpal. But from what I understood, it is again another body which has power over our parliament/judiciary.
Hmmm... I am very sure that is not great responsibility that it is going to come with this great power.
I am certainly ashamed about the corruption in our country. I am pained at the wealth of our nation being looted. But I would still be unhappy when the government of 1.2 billion is taken for granted.
Again, Friends.. Be the change. Else nothing will change... I would rather confront a corruption at my level than shouting in the crowd...
If my vote counts against corruption, I will cast it without fail.
STOP BRIBE.......Please let us Dictate no harm in that...if they dont do it right even after requests.....meetings....etc....then we need to dictate...no matter it is elected government...after all it is we who have elected so we do have power to correct the "Elected Government" if they dont realise the mistake and correct themselves....byt the way...next time when we have voting, we all the educated and civil societies need to vote 100% and if the candidate is not worth our vote, i am sure we can informt the CEC of not voting....this is another major revolution that needs to take place and i am sure we will do this also....again "NO BRIBE".....
